We Don’t Need More Welfare

We need more Jon Bon Jovis. When people have success, many of them desire to give back to their communities. Men and women like Bon Jovi see a need and seek to meet it.

This is precisely why we don’t need more government involvement in welfare. Imagine how much it would cost a bloated bureaucracy to start a restaurant. And of course, the government would never allow itself to expect the patrons to give back to the community. But we have a citizen with means making a tremendous difference.

If we give men and women more of their own money to invest in their communities, we’ll see significantly greater success in the battle to end hunger in America.

“If you come in and say, ‘I’m hungry,’ we’ll feed you,” Bon Jovi said. “But we’re going to need you to do something. It’s very important to what we’re trying to achieve.”

That includes making people feel part of a larger community that cares about them, while still expecting them to contribute to society at large.

“This is not an entitlement thing,” Bon Jovi said. “This is about empowering people because you have to earn that gift certificate.”
