“See Something Say Something” and Other Ridiculous Government Ideas

I’m about sick and tired of the government trying to turn citizens against their friends and neighbors. I’m sick and tired of government sponsored paranoia. How about instead of turning every innocent person getting out of their cab into a suspect of a crime, we develop a more sophisticated national security system tasked with doing the smart things to protect us.

Ron Paul maybe a kook, but he’s right to raise the alarm about government’s proclivity for turning good intentions into violations of privacy and freedom.

Starting today, the welcome screens on 1.2 million hotel television sets in Marriott, Hilton, Sheraton, Holiday Inn and other hotels in the USA will show a short public service announcement from DHS. The 15-second spot encourages viewers to be vigilant and call law enforcement if they witness something suspicious during their travels.

Read MY Lips…

My administration, unlike the current one, will strive to make America more excellent. To that end, we will oppose silly, petulent legislation like that being proposed to tax financial transactions. Class warfare is a losing strategy for national growth.

In the coming days, we will put our no new tax pledge into writing. Additionally, we will unveil a package of massive tax cuts that we are sure will immediately excite the American economy and markets.

“It’s a significant way to raise some needed revenue,” Harkin said in an interview today in Washington. “Quite frankly, I bet nobody would even feel it.”

Big Brother

It’s the stuff of scary science fiction. An unchecked government will always abuse its power. My administration will devote itself to rolling back the policies of intrusion and invasion and return the government to a proper posture towards the citizens we represent.

This spying program will be rolled back immediately.

The transformation of street lights into surveillance tools for Homeland Security purposes will only serve to heighten concerns that the United States is fast on the way to becoming a high-tech police state, with TSA agents being empowered to oversee that control grid, most recently with the announcement that TSA screeners would be manning highway checkpoints, a further indication that security measures we currently see in airports are rapidly spilling out onto the streets.

School Should Teach Math – Not Preferences, Mrs Obama.

Is there anything scarier than the government admitting they view school as the place where they can shape who our children will be for their entire lives? Is there anything more horrifying that the government twisted morality being thrust upon our children?

This is precisely why my administration will be eliminating the Department of Education. Parents, and parents alone, should be the source of values for their children. They should be the ones to decide who has input. As president, I will not be so arrogant as to assume I know better than you how to raise your children.

First Lady Michelle Obama said yesterday that the government can affect who kids “will be forever” if it can shape their “habits and preferences” during the large part of the day they are at school.
